New Book Series, “Imagination, Annotated,” Seeking Proposals

Imagination, Annotated, a book series published by the MIT Press and edited by a team from Arizona State University, is seeking proposals for new volumes. The series features speculative fiction texts from the 19th and 20th centuries that envision possible futures, each annotated by a diverse group of experts, scholars, and practitioners. It aims to open up compelling works of speculative fiction to new readers and contemporary concerns, inspire reflection, and include readers in a continuing conversation about what kind of world we want to live in. Alongside annotations throughout the text, these volumes feature critical essays, discussion questions, and other supplementary materials. Building on the successful model of the annotated edition of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (MIT Press, 2017), forthcoming titles in the series include Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon and Jayant V. Narlikar’s Virus. Write to imagination@asu.edu to inquire about instructions for submitting an initial pitch to edit a future title in the series, either as a solo editor or a team.
