Applications just opened for a postdoctoral position in Digital Media Studies with Markus Krajewski and myself at the Department of Media Studies and the Digital Humanities Laboratory at the University of Basel.
The prerequisite is a doctorate (by the time of appointment) in media studies, science and technology studies, digital humanities, computer science, literary studies, philology, cultural studies, history and philosophy of science and technology, information studies, or other related disciplinary configurations in the qualitative humanities. We are open in terms of your research focus but it must include historically situated and technically rigorous theoretical work as its central component. Additionally, engagements with some of the following domains – cultural techniques, media archaeology, critical making, media forensics, medium design, infrastructure studies, political economy, game studies, and/or code studies – would be welcomed. Also desirable would be experience (or interest) in local and global community building, academic and para-academic event organization, and/or visual design. Strong language and communication skills in English are a requirement. A residence in the trinational region of Basel would be mandatory.
