Annual Meeting 2004

The annual meeting will feature 2 guest scholar sessions and 12 regular sessions with up to 7 concurrent panels. The conference will be at the Durham Marriott at the Civic Center, in downtown Durham and not far from Duke University.

The first session will begin at 5pm on Thursday, Oct 14. The wrap-up session ends at 1pm on Sunday, Oct 17.

Guest scholar sessions are scheduled with Barbara Herrnstein Smith, Braxton Craven Professor of Comparative Literature and English and Director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Science and Cultural Theory at Duke, and with Donna Haraway, Professor of History of Consciousness at University of California at Santa Cruz, and Barbara Smuts, Professor of Psychology and Anthropology at University of Michigan.

SLS fosters the interdisciplinary study of the relations among literature and language, the arts, and science, medicine, and technology and includes among its members scholars of literature, art, and science as well as writers, artists, and scientists.
