Dear List Members,

I'd like to announce, if I may, my new book:

*Robert Louis Stevenson, Science, and the Fin de Si?ãcle* (Basingstoke
and New
York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2006).

It examines Stevenson's writings in the context of late-Victorian
evolutionist
thought, arguing that an interest in 'primitive' life is at the heart of
his
work. The study illuminates the complex traffic of ideas between
literature,
psychology, and anthropology, demonstrating that Stevenson conducted a
radical
revaluation of contemporary notions of 'savage' life.
