Hi,

I don't recall having seen such a list. I'd argue that the history needs
=
to predate us - I'd start with Metropolis at least....

Let me also make a plea to all for adding your thought-provoking syllabi
=
to the SLSA web resources database at:

http://www.law.duke.edu/shell/infoweb/slsresource.php?filter=3DOnline+Sylla=
bi

The database is overdue for a facelift, but it does provide a unique =
window on how colleagues are teaching the intersections of literature, =
art, science and technology! If you would rather not deal with the =
peculiarities of the database, please email me directly the link to your
=
syllabus or the syllabus itself. You can even fax (919-613-7237) or mail
=
it to Duke Law School Box 90373 Durham NC 27708.

Best,

Wayne

Has anyone compiled a decent collection of movies representing images of
=
the future? Everything from Blade Runner to Woody Allen's Sleeper? It
=
seems that someone (many people, probably) have and I'm out of touch.
Can =
anyone help? I will be using a collection of clips for my history of =
technology class, in a section about the history of the future. I saw =
Phoebe Sengers's quite interesting and useful syllabus on just that =
subject posted at the SLSA page, but didn't see any references to
movies.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to the literature and science list because I am looking for
=
information about postdoctoral studies in this area of knowledge. At the
=
moment, I am writing my doctoral thesis about literature and science =
issues, and I want to continue studying at the postdoctoral level. But I
=
do not know any postdoctoral program on literature and science (there is
=
not one in my country) and I thought it would be possible for you to =
inform me. I would be very grateful if anyone could give me some =
information about study possibilities abroad.
    Yours,

Subject: ANN: Innovation and Visualization, Trajectories, Strategies,

Myths by Amy Ione

Editions Rodopi BV is pleased to announce following new publication(s)
in =
Consciousness, Literature and the Arts studies:

Innovation and Visualization
Trajectories, Strategies, and Myths

Amy Ione

Amsterdam/New York, NY 2005. 271 pp.
(Consciousness, Literature and the Arts 1)

ISBN: 90-420-1675-2 =80 55,-/US $ 77.-
Online info: http://www.rodopi.nl/senj.asp?BookId=3DCLA+1

Amy Ione's Innovation and Visualization is the first in detail account =
that relates the development of visual images to innovations in art, =
communication, scientific research, and technological advance.
Integrated =
case studies allow Ione to put aside C.P. Snow's "two culture" framework
=
in favor of cross-disciplinary examples that refute the
science/humanities =
dichotomy. The themes, which range from cognitive science to illuminated
=
manuscripts and media studies, will appeal to specialists (artists, art
=
historians, cognitive scientists, etc.) interested in comparing our
image =
saturated culture with the environments of earlier eras. The scope of
the =
examples will appeal to the generalist.

Amy Ione is currently the Director of The Diatrope Institute, a
California-=
based group that disseminates information and engages in research =
exploring art, science and visual studies. She has published extensively
=
on art, science and technology relationships. Ione's artwork has been =
exhibited in the United States and Europe, and is found in many
collections=
..
