CFP: Roundtable discussion on =93Ecocriticism and Science Studies=94 =
for the ASLE (Association for the Study of Literature and Environment) =
conference to be held in Eugene, Oregon, June 21-25.

Deadline for proposals: Thursday, January 20, 2005.

I would like to coordinate a roundtable discussion on the conflicts, =
intersections, and alliances between ecocriticism and science studies.
=
How can specific questions, approaches, and paradigms from science =
studies complicate and enrich ecocriticism? What can ecocriticism =
contribute to science studies? How well do specific concepts--such as =
the agency of nature, or biodiversity=97travel between ecocriticism and
=
science studies? These are only initial questions; I welcome a wide =
range of perspectives on the current as well as the potential relations
=
between ecocriticism and science studies and expect that the =
participants will redefine the questions.

Please email a one-paragraph or one-page abstract of a 10- minute =
presentation. The roundtable discussion will probably include 3=965 =
presenters. Please include a title, your institutional affiliation, and
=
contact information. Audio-visual requests must accompany the proposal.
=
(No attachments, please.) Participation at the ASLE conference is =
limited to one presentation per person (but you may chair one session =
and present at another). All presenters must be ASLE members by the =
start of the conference (presenters should be, but are not required to =
be, members of SLSA as well). All proposals must be received be =
Thursday, January 20, 2005 to be considered.

Please email your proposal to Dr. Stacy Alaimo, ASLE's Liaison to the =
SLSA: stacya@exchange.uta.edu.
