Subject: travel opportunity for SLS97 in Pittsburgh

TimesTRAVEL OPPORTUNITY:
SLS members should make reservations to SLS97 in Pittsburgh via USAIR
by calling Forbes Travel Service at 1-800-433-8785 or 412-521-7823,
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-5 pm EST. SLS has worked out an
arrangement with Forbes to help subsidize graduate student travel: for
every 40 round-trip airfares booked on USAIR by SLS conference
participants, Forbes will award the society one free round-trip
airfare, which the society will award as available to graduate student
members who have applied to SLS officers.
Each graduate student member of SLS is eligible to send a request to be
awarded a free round-trip airfare to each SLS officer listed below;
i.e. each officer must receive each request. The graduate student
should append to the one-page request a one-page letter from his or her
department chair that travel support is needed and that no
institutional funds above $250 are being awarded to the student to
defray the cost of travel. Top priority will be given to students
presenting papers who have not received funding. Those chairing or
moderating sessions and those receiving some funding will be next
considered if there are more trips to be awarded.

officers is final.
